Communication may sound like a very basic thing to do, but not a lot of people do it properly when they have arthritis. Arthritis causes profound effects on the daily life and activities and habits that were once easy and taken for granted have now become a lot more difficult. Therefore, arthritis does not affect only the person suffering with the symptoms but also the family, friends, and co-workers. The person dealing with arthritis should communicate and share their feelings with their loved ones. Also, they should express any need for assistance as well as conveying their need for patience, understanding, and support.

Mediation, like relaxation techniques is very useful in releasing the tension and stress from arthritis. Learn new ways to relax and meditate helps ease muscle tension and helps fight that fatigue that arthritis causes. Often times, patients with arthritis minds become cluttered with facing challenges. Thus, clearing the mind is very therapeutic. Although, these thought may be necessary thoughts, it is also beneficial to sometimes focus on there things in order to clear the mind. This time helps both the body and the mind to relief.

Eliminating stress can be an inescapable reality of life. However, everyone has stress whether if it is positive or negative stress. The way a person response to stress physically and emotionally stops the strain on both the body and the mind. Therefore, it is best to respond to a certain type of stress in a way that will eliminate that stress.

Concentration helps arthritis patients to have a good quality of life despite arthritis. A person can choose to just think negative thoughts but this person can also focus on positive things like the things they can still do and still have. It’s an excellent idea to concentrate on positive thinking, having an active lifestyle, and making realistic goals.

If you don’t already know, a person who has chronic arthritis faces a lot of life altering changes. Therefore it is important to learn how to: accept the limitations, better coping strategies, and adjusting life to the chronic pain.

Taking 4 simple actions may help a person to better deal with the challenges arthritis brings as well as maintaining a positive attitude. These 4 actions include educate, motivate, participate, and medicate.

Like they say knowledge is power, is very true and an important concept to apply in ones life. Understanding and knowing what ones healthy condition is like cannot be over looked. It is very simple to find information online and it is also very simple to find mutual support and sharing online with other people facing what you are. Another wonderful way is to talk to your doctor and he or she can give you a proper diagnosis and treatment plan as well as providing you with so much information on your condition. Usually this type of team work leads to the best approach in health care.

It can sometimes be difficult to keep motivated when chronic pain arises however, this is possible. It is important to keep continually focus on what one can do, rather than what one cannot do. Another good approach is to set goals and strategies because this helps you live life to the fullest potential. Finally, one must focus on remaining active and keeping a lot of independence.

A person who lives with arthritis and chronic pain needs to remember their abilities and that should become their focus. This person must also learn to pace their selves. In order to engage in fun social activities and daily living one has to remember that there is still a lot of life with arthritis and it is worth living.

The major part of arthritis is being in a medical program and they fall into several types and categories. The focus on medication is to take it as prescribed, regularly, and routinely.

Glamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is great supplement to treat arthritis.

Glamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is great supplement to treat arthritis. The fatty acids in the GLA is an evening primrose oil and in one study of 56 rheumatoid arthritis patients, those taking GLA everyday for a period of 6 months showed signs of less joint pain and stiffness as well as a better grip and strength. Always check the labels of oils to see the amount of GLA in them; usually the dose is 1,800 mg daily. In order to get it, one would need eight 1000 mg capsules of borage oil with each containing 240 mg of GLA. Like the fish oil, GLA can also thin your blood and react to other drugs, so it is very important to consult your doctor before taking this treatment.

Vitamins and minerals can also help with the pain of RA. A study conducted at the Mayo Clinic learned that older women who took vitamins like vitamin C, vitamin E, or zinc showed that they were 30% to 60% less likely to develop RA.

There are always trendy herbal remedies that are thought to be good for you but in reality aren’t. One example would be cat’s claw which is a very popular herbal remedy with anti-inflammatory activity in animals. But in reality there is no scientific evidence or study that really shows that it can help humans. Only because it helps animals doesn’t always mean that it will help us, so always consult your physician before trying this herbal remedy.

In another study that was held by the Swedish showed that RA patients who had a Mediterranean diet for three months had less pain, better joint function and more vitality than those who had the Western typical diet. A typical Mediterranean diet is rich in olive oil, cereals, legumes, fish, fruits, vegetables, and low in meats. All of these elements have great anti-inflammatory or antioxidant activities in the body, which can explain why it is a great diet.

New finding have linked arthritis to not only poor diet or obesity, but instead to the general state of the immune system. A protein in the immune system that causes malfunctions in patients who have arthritis or other inflammatory diseases have been found by researchers. It is believed by doctors that they may clog this protein to limit the need for steroids.

Compare to previous generations, it has been observed by the researchers at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center that there are more cases of arthritis involved with obese baby boomers. As the population ages so does the number of people with arthritis.

There are a few ways anyone can take to offset arthritis without medication. Since what we eat frequently plays a big role in how arthritis will start then to prevent it, it’s important to eat healthy. Unfortunately, the average North American diet contains high amounts of cooked, processed and other acid forms which make it hard to keep a healthy diet. A healthy diet should contain at least 70% alkaline and 30% acidic.

A diet containing mostly raw, fresh vegetables, fruits and reduced in the intake of meats is the best way to reduce inflammation in the body. Avoiding foods that from acids in your body will help ease the arthritis symptoms with out the use of medication. Foods that don’t produce acids in the body include corn, honey, oatmeal, peanuts, rice, soy, pasta, and wheat and keep away from saturated fats, like butter, cream, and margarine.

Another great way to protect against arthritis is to consume antioxidants from brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Consuming antioxidants called carotenoids from yellow and orange fruits and vegetables will decrease the chances of developing inflammatory arthritis.

It’s best to build your diet around alkaline forming products such as berries, bananas, raisins, avocado, carrots, grapes, plums, broccoli, and much more. The key thing to remember when choosing a diet is to focus on vegetables and not so much on proteins. Finally, hydration is an absolute most to avoid a lot of arthritis symptoms.

Arthritis patients have been using herbal remedies to help ease arthritis pain and inflammation for many years. Modern drugs can be harsh on our bodies, which may shock and weaken our body’s system. Medicinal herbs and herbal remedies help sooth and make our bodies stronger which promotes excellent health and energy. Some herbal recommendations for arthritis include, burdock root, comfrey, horsetail, and stinging nettle.

Burdock Root helps decrease arthritis pain by purifying and cleansing the blood. It is also great for reducing joint swelling and calcification. There are historical records that indicates that people have been using burdock root for centuries internally and externally to treat painful joints.

Comfrey helps heal and sooth tissues that are inflamed. As a result the tissues swelling and pain is reduces in a very remarkable way. Comfrey root is only to be used externally because it is made into a tincture.

Horsetail is a plant that is rich in silicone minerals, in a form of a compound called monosilicic acid, making it instant for the body to use. It has been proven through research that silicone helps prevent osteoporosis. For all of these reasons nature has provided horsetail as an excellent remedy for arthritis.

Stinging nettle is loaded with baron, a helpful mineral to help treat arthritis. Baron is able to retain the body’s calcium and helps our body to keep healthy bones and joints. The stinging nettle has sharp spines which contain histamine and formic acid, an irritant chemical that comes out of the plant once it comes in contact with the skin. Usually, when the spines of the stinging nettle touches the skin it can hurt a little, however once the chemical does its work, the original pain decreases.

For centuries people have sought after herbs to treat arthritis or any sort of painful swelling. Burdock root, comfrey, horsetail, and stringing nettle are just a few alternatives.

There are many options to treat rheumatoid arthritis (RA) today. The goal of RA treatments is to maintain a control over the signals and symptoms, as well as maintaining physical function so that the person living with RA can live with a good quality of life. Therefore, it is important to have long term medical care with frequent and regular visits, which includes getting tested every three to five times a week to monitor how the treatment is going.

During treatment, it is always a great idea to seek counseling and seek education to better understand the condition. This way the person affected with this illness will learn better ways to cope and control the symptoms of RA. Nonpharmacologic programs have been shown to decrease pain, depression, and to gain control over the individual’s illness.

Moderate rest can help with restoring the body’s energy, it is recommended to alternate exercise and rest. Inactivity may result in loss of joint motion, contractions, and a decrease in muscle strength thus, reinforcing fatigue, joint instability, and weakness. Therefore, regular exercise helps reverse such side effects. Work outs that have shown to be beneficial include, range of motion exercises, ones that increase strength, and ones that increase endurance.

Another option of treatment for RA includes physical therapy because it relieves pain, reduces the inflammation, and helps preserve the joints structure and function. A Physical Therapist generally use heat or cold therapy to alleviate pain and stiffness, along with ultrasound to reduce the inflammation. A Physical Therapist also assists in passive and active excises to help improve and keep range of motion of the joints.

Along with the treatment described, patients should also have a dietary treatment and consult their doctors for the appropriate drug treatment. The dietary treatment will help people with active RA to consume the appropriate amounts of calories and nutrients in order to cope with the RA. The main goal of the drug therapy is not to just reduce the pain, but to prevent additional damage of the joints and loss of function without causing negative side affects.

The treatments described are very basic in helping anyone with RA. Therefore it is always important to keep these options in mind.
