Heat Therapy

Research has indicated that heat therapy is best to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Heat therapy is a good way to lower and sooth arthritis pain as well as preventing stiffness. In addition, heat therapy will not only help you relax, it will also let you loosen the joints and can be very useful before working out or if you are trying to fall asleep.

Heat therapy can be done by taking a hot bath, shower, being in a warm pool, or even in a Jacuzzi. Another option is to make hot packs by soaking towels in hot water, this can be effective but not as much as when you soak your entire body in hot water. Most people do not like the hot towel options so they purchase commercial hot packs at the pharmacy, which are reusable, easy to use, portable, and not expensive.

The Therapro Heat Therapy Pack has shown to be very useful to relieve the pain of arthritis. All you have to do is pop it in the microwave or heat it in water and you can reuse them as much as you want.  The gel contained in side helps to provide a nice sooth and warm feeling for a very long time. These packs are very economical and really are effective when treating sprains, strains, spasms, contusions, and reducing aches and pains.

In order to prevent stiffness by the use of heat therapy, it is important to prevent your joints from being exposed to cold temperatures. However if you are purposely applying a cold treatment after a hot treatment, it can ease the pain. Never the less, if you are at a place where you cannot control the temperature where you are in then be prepare to have something that will keep you warm.
